The
founders of Korea’s major star managements snagged the top four slots
on the list of Korea’s stock-rich celebrities in 2014, online business
researcher’s data showed recently.
As
of Dec. 30 last year, Yang Hyun-suk, the founder of YG Entertainment,
topped the list with his listed stocks that are worth about 185.8
billion won ($168.2 million), according to Chaebol.com. Lee Soo-man, the founder of S.M. Entertainment, ranked No. 2 with 149.3 billion won. Actor
and KEAST majority shareholder Bae Yong-joon and JYP Entertainment
founder Park Jin-young ranked the third and fourth, respectively.
Actors and comedians turned out to have a tight grip on the rest of the list. Actress Park Soon-ae, the wife of the chief executive of Pungguk Alchohol Industrial Co. Ltd., placed fifth, followed by hallyu actor Jang Dong-gun. Actress Kyeon Mi-ri and her 24-year-old daughter Lee Yu-bi, who is also an actress, ranked seventh and 12th, respectively.
The number of celebrities who own listed stocks of 100 million won or higher in market value jumped to 14, up four from a year ago.
