Bae Yong Joon’s Keyeast, 8.1 Billion Won for The First Quarter Revenue… Increased 223% ( MAy , 2010)

Entertainment company, Keyeast, for which Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon is a major shareholder, had sales of 8.1 billion Won for the first quarter of 2010 and it has increased 223% compared to the first quarter of last year.

Keyeast released their first quarter report through the quarterly report in the afternoon on May 17th. According to Keyeast, the sales of the first quarter was 8,161,434,247 Won and it has increased 223% compared to the same quarter of last year (the first quarter of 2009 was 3,646,430,824 Won), and profit has increased 796% (73,640,640 Won in the first quarter of 2009, and 586,769,688 Won in the first quarter of 2010). They especially said that the profit was more than last year’s entire profits.

They pointed out that the increases of the sales and profits resulted from “the sales increase from the merger with its subsidiary company, BOF and its synergy effects”, and “the services for the production of the animation Winter Sonata affected largely to the sales of the first quarter.” And they added that “it also resulted from the continuous activities of the entertainers including Bae Yong Joon, Lee Na Young, Choi Gang Hee, Lee Bo Young, and Lee Ji Ah.”

Especially, they had additional contents businesses in 2009 such as DVD sales of the broadcasting, 3D movie in theaters, and the publication of the photo books from ‘the Tokyo Dome Event in Japan’, ‘The Journey to Discover the Beauty of Korea’, and ‘Animation Winter Sonata,”, and it looks like they were the reason the profits increased.

An official of Keyeast said, “Right now, we’re earnestly working on the production of the drama ‘Dream High’, the production of documentary film, various licenses, and MD businesses. And we expect positive results from the additional businesses contents coming from the know-how of one source multi use business in the future.”

Recently, Keyeast renewed the exclusive contracts with Lee Na Young, Choi Gang Hee, and Lee Ji Ah.

Bae Yong Joon’s Keyeast has changed to a Two Representative System.

Keyeast, in which Bae Yong Joon (38) is a major shareholder, was reorganized to Joint Representative System with Shin Pil Soon (34) and Yang Geun Hwan (35) as Keyeast representatives.

On the 28th of May, Keyeast said, “We would like to become a future – oriented cultural content company based on professionalism and innovativeness through a joint representative system which consist of management specialist from the outside and inside.”

Representative Shin is a certified public accountant and financial advisor. He worked for Samil PWC Advisory and Neoplux which is a private equity fund management company of Doosan Group. Representative Yang is a founder member and director of Korea Entertainment Management Association.

Representative Shin, who will orchestra the overall business, and management system of Keyeast, said, “I would like to develop a company that has both profitability and growth through a systematic management and the discovery a new form of business.”

Including Bae Yong Joon, Lee Na Young, Choi Gang Hee, Lee Bo Young, Lee Ji Ah, Park Ye Jin, Bong Tae Gyue, Kim Soo Hyeon, Park Eun Bin belong to Keyeast.

In the later part of this year, Keyeast will produce the drama, “Dream High” with CJ Media and JYP Entertainment.
